His bedroom : key points to fit out

The children bedroom, it is often the first room that we fit out and the expense budget is more important than  the other rooms in the house.

The floor covering

Your choice must be towards a floor covering that is durable and easy to clean ; not very solicited during the first year of the baby, the floor risks to be put at severe test by thereafter. Among the most practical solutions, there are vitrified parquet floors or flexible synthetic coverings ( like the lino ) that combine the sturdiness and the easy cleaning : they can be sweeped or washed easily. 

If you posess a beautiful parquet floor and that you wish to restore it, be watchful that there is not too much space between the strips, because it is always very tempting for small hands to slip small toys in it.

 To obtain a soft aspect, favorite the wall-to-wall carpet, and opt for a hard-wearing wall-to-wall carpet, synthetic and anti stains ! It is useless to invest in a thick luxury wall-to-wall carpet, because it will not support crumbs, chalks and other diverse garbages that is going to be in it as time goes by ! Without counting  that it will never be enough plane for construcation games or to make litlle cars roll.

If you can't decide or that your child has allergies? Proscribe the wall-to-wall carpet ! A solution esthetic and practical :  adhesive decorations for the floor. They can be stick on every smooth areas and can be look after just like a lino.




Walls

Paint, wallpaper or adhesive mural decoration ?

The three solutions have  their advantages : Paint last longer and it is easier to retouch or to wash;

But avoide the mat paint, very beautiful when it is pose but mark a lot. Acrylic or glycero ?

For a child bedroom, and if the support allows, prefer a satin acrylic, less toxic than the glycero.

For the plinths and the doors, opt for a brilliant paint. Think to animate the painted areas ( walls, cupboard doors or furnitures ) with Atmosphere Patches, they will allow to personalize your decoration really simply.

If you opt for the wallpaper, prefer it washable and with patterns, it is a good way to easily hide stains and imperfections of support.

Lighting

A good lighting is important in a child bedroom : it must be answering to several needs : game , reading , sleeping with night light.

 When it is a baby, anticipate two light sources : the ceiling light with a dimmer allows to watch baby's sleep, an other lamp is useful close to the lange table.

Nice to amuse baby, the lamp that turns and create a luminous animation.

Later, for the bed, you can add the bedside light that the child can turn on or turn off from his bed : be careful to spots that fix thanks to a clip, put on the bed border and turn towards sheets, they can be dangerous ; to reserve for the older children.

Pratical halogene lamps diffuse a pleasant light, but stay vigilant on the light bulb protection : a toy can land by accident  on the lamp and burn, to reserve for the older children too.

With the office, predict the pruchase of a swiveling lamp, easy to manipulate.


Heating

To assure a temperature of 19 °, don't be liberal on the quality of the heating. Prefer a gas heating, whose the heat is more pleasant and constant and especially more healthy than an electric heating, unless that it is a radiant heating, but teh cost is higher than a gas heating.


Last things to finish it !

Children grow up rapidly, their furnitures and their bedrooms must evolve at their growth rythm. Their bedrooms are often the room that undergo most of the changes.

Rather than buying a lange table, it is possible to use the top of a dresser. To decorate the room, it is better to bet on elements easy to modify ( Atmosphere Patches ).

An all other aspect can be given to a bedroom by simply painting it with an other colour, or with a fake finish, change the curtains, or the wallpaper, change the office handle, chnage the carpet and add pillows, or tint the wood floor.

 For the window, a window shade or an opaque curtain, otherwise he risks to get up as soon as the first gleams of the sun appears. It is also very practical for the naps during the day.
